Woods Valley Golf Club, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Valley Center, California.
Woods Valley Golf Club opened for play in 2003. The course was designed by Dave Ginkel.
Tree-lined fairways and rolling slopes highlight Woods Valley Golf Course. The course was designed with an emphasis on strategy and shot-making, following the natural contours of the countryside. The generous fairways are largely open. The greens are large, undulating and can be a challenge to putt. Water comes into play on a few holes, and bunkers are few, but well placed. There are five sets of tees to challenge all skill levels.
From the back tees the course plays to 6,670 yards and plays to a par-71. From the forward tees the course measures 5,035 yards and plays to a par of 72.. The longest hole on the course is # 9, a par-5 that plays to 552 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 3, a par-3 that plays to 154 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 14, a 435 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Woods Valley Golf Club is # 3, the 154 yard par-3.
Black tees: Par-71, 6,670 yards.
Blue tees: Par-71, 6,291 yards.
White tees: Par-72, 5,892 yards.
Silver tees: Par-72, 5,481 yards.
Gold tees: Par-72, 5,035 yards.

This was my first time playing this course and it will not be my last time. The course was difficult but not a killer, and the greens were in great shape. As a matter of fact one of the marshals mentioned that they recently got a new grounds keeper and he has done an outstanding job. The staff was friendly and the food was good and priced right.

The quality of this course is very dependant on weather conditions. Subject to frost/winter and heat/summer. The operators have made efforts to improve consistency of course conditions. Front and back nine are almost like different course.

This course will never live up to what their plans for it were. They simply ran out of money while they were building the development. Could have really been a high class area. Golf course is decent, doesn't get very much play still, so its usually in decent shape. You still can get some funky lies in the fairway, however.

Fun layout. Looks like the greens were punched a couple weeks ago, they were a bit bumpy/sandy. Would like to play again when greens are in good shape.

Woods Valley is like playing two different nines. The front nine is basically flat and a bit crammed but through the use of mounding, the holes seem separate. The back nine goes back into native coast live oaks and feels completely different. Both nines have their share of tight holes and have about 3 lakes each. The greens were very good, fast, but a bit hard as many iron shots took huge first bounces. Bunkers are all in good shape and fairways were 90% grass with some bare spots. Some of the lakes were in bad shape, drained or very low in water. The course is fun to play, not overly long, but a straight ball is a must. Well priced and a good challenge.
